Bonfire in Sand

Kusiy has had a Temazcal in her home since her tender childhood; she feels that sanctuary as her second home, where she always finds warmth, shelter, a cradle, and answers. The Temazcal is known as the Womb of Mother Earth, the house of the first breath and the ancient stones, where we are offered the opportunity to cleanse, align... and be reborn.

As the daughter of María Valdivia, a Chilean Medicine Woman, she began accompanying her in these practices over 25 years ago, also participating in other ceremonies such as Medicine Vigils at the Altar of the Half Moon, the Vision Quest, the Sun Dance, and the Star Dance in the tradition of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan. Under the guidance of Aurelio Díaz Tekpankalli, the Chief of Chiefs of the same tradition, she received the blessing to lead Temazcals in Mexico a decade ago.

Songs, aromas, and prayers of hope are the keys she offers in guiding this ancestral purification ritual, where everything is magic and power.

Embark on a transformative journey of self-care and renewal. Immerse yourself in a serene yoga session, harmonizing body and mind amidst serene surroundings. Polly's classes are filled with a profound practice of mindfulness and kind attention. Afterwards, delve into the ancient Temazcal, where heat and ritual merge, guiding you through a purifying and rejuvenating experience. Embrace this fusion of tranquility and tradition, leaving refreshed, balanced, and energized.

WHAT IS A TEMAZCAL RITUAL?

Entering the temazcal is like stepping into a sacred sanctuary, embraced by the earthy scent of herbs and the warmth of the stones. The dim light filters through the small opening as you gather in a circle, ready to embark on a journey of purification. As the stones are heated and water poured, the steam gradually envelopes the space, inviting sweat and releasing tension. Amid chants, prayers, and introspective moments, the heat becomes a conduit for both physical detoxification and spiritual connection—a ritualistic rebirth within the womb of tradition and healing. Emerging from the temazcal, there’s a sense of renewal, of shedding what no longer serves, leaving behind a serene and revitalized essence.
